When it comes to fun food, fondue is at the top of our list. What could be better than dipping your favorite fruit or snack into a warm, delicious pool of melted Mallo goodness? Fondue is the perfect party food, with endless possibilities. Ideal any time of year, fondue can be served as part of an outdoor buffet for a backyard picnic. A festive addition to any desert table, fondue is also a creative offering during the holidays. No matter what the occasion, guests will enjoy using fondue forks or skewers to serve themselves and dip to their heart’s content. The following fondue recipe is delicious with any of our Mallo Cups.

Mallo Cup Fondue

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 8-oz non-dairy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 20 Mallo Cup candies
  • 16 oz break up chocolate milk*

Preparation

  1. Chop up Mallo Cup candies in quarters (chill first for easier chopping).
  2. In a buttered crock pot, combine break up chocolate, Mallo Cup candies, and milk.
  3. Cover and turn on low setting, stirring every 30 minutes during the first hour until melted and smooth.
  4. After the first hour, cook on low for two to six hours. Serve with pound cake and fruit pieces.

*Breakup chocolate is also known as melting chocolate or confectionery coating. This type of chocolate is different from baking chocolate, which can also be melted. However, break up chocolate is best for dipping and fondue.

Remember, just about anything can be dipped in fondue, so get creative by providing unusual fruit choices, such as pineapple, mango, or orange slices. For those with an extra sweet tooth, offer pound cake pieces, rice cereal treats, chocolate chip cookie bites, cheesecake bites, or marshmallows. Salty snacks are a good choice as well, so try pretzel rods or even potato chips.
